Air Source Heat Pumps - Positioning The Unit

In normal circumstances Air Source Heat Pumps should be situated as close to the house as possible to maximise the efficiency of the unit with a gap no less than 30cm between the wall and the unit.

It is not recommended to house the heat pump inside due to the large amounts of cold air produced. Unless special provisions were made vibrations produced by the unit would also make it uncomfortabel for inhabitants of the property.

When stored outside a house the unit needs to secured fixed to the ground on some kind of solid footing to minimize vibrations.
