1. Assess initial suitability over the telephone
A quick telephone conversation will allow us to establish whether or not your property is suitable for a solar thermal installation. If for example, your roof is north facing, we would more than likely advise that the roof is not suitable.
2. Conduct a free, no obligation survey / initial site assessment
Upon establishing that your property is suitable for solar thermal panels we would arrange a site survey at your convenience. The reason for this is to assess a number of things which determine the system we could provide. We look at things like roof space, current water heating system, shading, pipe routing, etc etc.
3. Discuss domestic solar thermal options
Once we have gathered information from the site survey we would discuss with the customer the options available.
4. Produce a written formal quotation
Once we have established the size / cost of the solar hot water heating installation which is required for a property we will produce a detailed quotation. This will include the solar hot water system specification, the overall cost, the expected energy savings and the financial return from the Renewable Heat Incentive.
5. Conduct a detailed technical survey
If the quote is suitable and we are selected to install the solar termal system we will conduct a final technical survey if we feel there are any areas which may require further attention. This could be checking the structural integrity of the roof, doing a more detailed measurement of the roof, checking the exisitng heating sytem and planning a route for pipes..
6. Assist with Renewable Heat Incentive grant application
Before the Renewable Heat Incentive becomes available for domestic properties in the UK a payment os sometimes available to help with the cost of the system. We will check with the relevant bodies pn your behlaf.
7. Full solar thermal installation and commissioning
Following the receipt of the signed contract and 25% deposit we will schedule an agreed date to begin the installation. We always advise it could take 2 days but more often than not we can complete the installation in a day. We will get the scaffolding errected a day before the installation and removed a day or two after the job is commissioned.
8. Explain operation of system to customer and handover
Once we have completed the install and the system is operational we will explain the operation of the solar system. This will include procedures to turn the system off or on and any other technical or operational elements you need to know. The handover pack will also be left with the customer at this point which details all the product specs, warranty information, MCS certificate, and a copy of the test certificates
9. Ongoing support and maintenance
Once we have completed the solar thermal installation we don't just leave it at that. Due to the nature of solar hot water systems it is a good idea to perform a maintenance check once a year. We also offer support should you have any questions or queries about your solar hot water heating system.
If there is anything listed above which is not clear or you would like further information on please contact us. We have an experienced team in our Chester office that would be happy to help.
